This weekend felt like freedom. This weekend felt like everything that we fought for as soldiers. I think they should change the motto for the State; the new motto should be “The State that feels like freedom”. Nevertheless, I can say I felt loved in Virginia.
K. Patterson, US Army, Purple Heart recipient
What an incredible time out here turkey hunting in Virginia. I have learned a ton about turkey hunting. The Host and Guides were incredible. I never expected to run into a bear while turkey hunting. Thank you WWIA for this awesome hunt opportunity.

This was my second time doing a turkey hunt with WWIA, both were great experiences. I am very pleased with the organization. Everyone was very kind and helpful throughout the event. I look forward to my next adventure with WWIA. My thanks to all.

This event was one of many first for me, first time turkey hunting, first time woodturning, first time fishing and caught a Northern Pike and ate it. This event was an awesome experience. Our Host was awesome. I am truly grateful for WWIA offering me this experience. Thank you to everyone who made this happen.
S. Ramen, US Army, Purple Heart recipient
This event continues to be an amazing experience for our Purple Heart Heroes. I cannot say thank you enough to Todd, Dawn, Tony, Bill and all the awesome volunteers and supporters. Fifteen years of doing this event is pretty amazing and it is so appreciated. It is a great weekend of camaraderie, relaxation and awesome hunting and fishing in a beautiful place. Thank you!
D. VanBuren, US Army, Purple Heart recipient
Thank you so very much for the opportunity to participate in this event. Being able t be around some great veterans and Hosts has been so wonderful and healing in many ways. The ability to put the daily things behind me and spend time away in the woods provides such a healing of the mind that many do not understand. This is so special and humbling to experience and helps me in my healing by freeing my mind. To be treated with this hunt I am so appreciative. To harvest a turkey was a plus. Many thanks and appreciation.
J. Bednar, US Army, Purple Heart recipient

What an amazing place, amazing people and WWIA is an amazing organization. These events are like ten years of therapy wrapped up in one weekend. Mrs. Shelley and Mr. Dennis are God’s gift to humanity. Thank you WWIA for this event.

Thank you to Matt, Kyle, Kevin, Jordan, Farmer and Jake! I really enjoyed my time at the Kabco camp. I greatly appreciate the warm welcome and Alabama hospitality. I loved hanging out with everyone and sharing stories. I know putting on an event like that is a lot of work. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I really needed this trip to reset.
A. Aranda, USMC, Purple Heart recipient
This week has been an amazing experience with an amazing group of fellas. The opportunity to hunt is an opportunity to find reprieve from the dark recesses of my mind. I am able to be grounded. I am also able to reason with many of my struggles. Turkey hunting is something I could never do by myself. So I am extremely grateful for the chance that WWIA gave me to meet new friends and create an opportunity to find that reprieve. These fellas were genuinely some of the kindest, hardworking people I have met. I am glad to be in their company and can’t wait to carry on the friendship with them. Thank you again for listening and thank you for reminding me that I am not alone.
L. Cureton, US Army, Purple Heart recipient
I am truly grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of this amazing hunt. Thank you for allowing me to participate and learn alongside such an incredible team. This opportunity has not only expanded my knowledge of the sport but has also deepened my appreciation for nature and the camaraderie that comes with this type of event. I am thankful for the guidance, support, and memories made. I look forward to future experiences and continued growth. A big thank you to the whole staff at WWIA for everything.

We are committed to healing the lives of America’s veterans and reducing veteran suicide. For the past 17 years, we have been changing lives and saving lives! We have over 1,500 testimonials from Heroes who have expressed how the WWIA events they attended have dramatically impacted their health, healing, happiness, and overall well-being. This isn’t hype or hyperbole, it’s evidence-based! We have partnered with Cornell University to study the results of the work we are doing and how it combats veteran suicide, and it has shown some remarkable results. The bottom line is THIS STUFF WORKS!
