About WWIA
The Wounded Warriors in Action (WWIA) is a national 501(c)(3) public charity that devotes all of its energy and resources to supporting OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM (OIF) and OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM (OEF) Purple Heart recipients. The WWIA supports these phenomenal heroes by providing them with the opportunity to participate in world-class outdoor sporting activities, chiefly hunting and fishing. Please share in their experiences at Camp Hackett and elsewhere as outlined in their testimonials
The WWIA's mission - our only goal, is to get our Wounded Warriors back in Action! Many great Americans throughout the history of this Nation have experienced and truly believe in the tremendous healing power of the Great Outdoors. There is no greater healing potential than connecting with nature and pursuing great achievements both afield and on the water.
The purpose for establishing the WWIA is to provide our Wounded Warriors with outdoor sporting opportunities they would otherwise never have. This is our Nation's opportunity to give something back and to express in a meaningful way, our collective gratitude for their service and great sacrifices these heroes have made.
The WWIA focuses its energy on providing trophy whitetail bow hunting opportunities in northern Wisconsin and fishing for select, highly sought after, saltwater species in and around south Florida, (primarily in the Florida Keys.)
These exhilarating activities provide our Wounded Warriors the opportunities to re-integrate themselves back into our society; re-enforce the communal aspect of life; to increase self-reliance and self-confidence; and enjoy the wonderful aspects of the great outdoors - all in concert with a cadre of expert sportsmen who share the same values and ethos of the Warriors they support.
The WWIA understands and is committed to the healing power experiencing the great outdoors provides. Experiencing the great outdoors provides more than simply physical healing powers, it also helps heal emotionally as well as spiritually.
The WWIA owes a heartfelt "thank you" to Field & Stream magazine for making mention of the WWIA in the March 2008 addition. Since then, the WWIA has connected with scores of great American sportsmen nationwide. There is an overwhelmingly gracious "call to duty" from these sportsmen, true Patriots, who purposefully offer their service and resources to the Foundation. With your help, we will strengthen our allegiance with these Great Americans and deliver endless possibilities to our Wounded Warriors.
Ultimately, the WWIA aims to create regional Centers of Excellence across the United States; outdoor sporting centers run by Wounded Warriors for Wounded Warriors. These centers will serve as wildlife conservation models and everlasting retreats for the Brave and the Courageous who so valiantly gave of themselves -- for you.
Imagine a Band of Brothers, Great American sportsmen and our Wounded Warriors connected together nationwide, serving each other - participating in the emotional, mental and spiritual healing process afield and on the water!
Together, with your support, we will build a foundation that stands the test of time and serves as a constant reminder of our commitment to the Wounded Warrior healing process. With your assistance, the WWIA will succeed in aiding the Wounded Warriors in overcoming insurmountable odds and repay a debt of gratitude for the great sacrifices they've made.
End State
The defined end state is realized once the WWIA has established four (4) fully functional, self-sustaining, multi-faceted, world-class regional outdoor sporting centers, all serving our Wounded Warriors. The regional centers will be run by select Wounded Warriors themselves, providing employment opportunities for those who express the desire and capability. The proceeds generated by the regional centers will be used to help support the principles of good conservation and healing our Wounded Warriors and their families. The target date for realizing the end state conditions is 2015.
